Deliveroo Announces Leadership Change in Middle East Operations
Deliveroo, the prominent UK-based online food delivery service, has confirmed a significant leadership transition within its Middle East division.
Anis Harb Steps Down as General Manager
After nearly ten years of pivotal contributions to Deliveroo’s Middle Eastern operations, Anis Harb has vacated his position as General Manager. Harb was instrumental in establishing the company in the UAE back in 2015, leading to its growth as a key player in the region’s food and grocery delivery market.
Achievements Under Harb’s Leadership
During Harb’s tenure, Deliveroo expanded its services significantly, increasing its footprint in the Middle East, from the UAE to Kuwait and Qatar. Noteworthy initiatives include:
- The launch of cloud kitchens under the ‘Editions’ concept.
- The introduction of the rapid grocery delivery service named ‘Hop’.
- The establishment of ‘Deliveroo Plus’, a subscription model to enhance customer experience.
Harb’s strategic direction also facilitated diversifying into grocery and retail, managing a robust network of over 25,000 partners and a fleet exceeding 9,000 riders.
Nick Price Takes the Helm
Stepping into the role is Nick Price, who previously served as the General Manager of Deliveroo in Hong Kong. Price brings a wealth of experience and has been recognized for his strategic partnerships and enhancements in service levels. His efforts contributed to significant growth in the Deliveroo Plus subscription and the expansion of on-demand grocery services during his time in Hong Kong.
Statements from Leadership
Deliveroo CEO Will Shu acknowledged Harb’s extensive contributions, saying, “Anis founded our business in the Middle East with the launch of the UAE in 2015. His leadership, tenacity and innovation over the past ten years has laid a great foundation for our continued growth.” He expressed gratitude for Harb’s efforts and highlighted the exciting future ahead with Price as the new leader.
Looking Ahead
Price assumes his new responsibilities at a pivotal time, coinciding with Deliveroo’s 10th anniversary in the UAE. He emphasized the importance of the Middle East to the company’s overall operations, stating, “The Middle East markets are very important to Deliveroo’s business, and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead.” Price aims to drive growth across restaurant, retail, and grocery sectors while enhancing customer value propositions and operational efficiency.
